A busy work morning as the rain arrives – much needed in parts.  Lovely to welcome owner Tot Calver, her sister Annabel and husband Malcolm to the yard to see Beautiful People and Organdi this morning.

Looking forward to schooling most of the string tomorrow in our outdoor school and hopefully on the grass again soon.

We have two runners at Uttoxeter on Friday with Timetobenefit and Gentleman Moore.  Both will be ridden by Danny Hiskett and we look forward to riding the former more prominently on this occasion.  Her full sister won using these tactics and hopefully it will bring about an improvement.

Danny has a great record on Gentleman Moore – it is a competitive race but hopefully the step up in trip will suit on his first run for us.

Following the Prime Minister’s announcement yesterday, society and sport will be greatly challenged.  However hopefully we can come up with imaginative ideas to make the most of the situation in extraordinary times.  We continue to follow government guidelines rigidly here at Adlestrop Stables and therefore hopefully this environment is as safe as it can be in the Cotswold fresh air.

Sad to hear of the passing of former trainer Michael Oliver.  I first knew Michael when he trained the wonderful West Tip.  Having started my career in the sport at the same time as R Dunwoody, he was a horse I knew well.  His Grand National victory was a memorable one for me and I remember going with Richard to the stables the day after his great win at Aintree.  Below is a photograph of myself with the great winning duo – obviously examining a cut on a hind leg, practising for my future career.  Pleased to say I still have hair.
