A pleasing work morning as we prepare for runners next week at various locations.  Good to have so many owners visiting to see the string in action.  Thankfully no frost this morning and an opportunity to school some on the grass.

Pricewise in the Racing Post continues to go through the Festival races.  Yesterday he tipped Flooring Porter for the Stayers Hurdle and today, Blue Lord in the Arkle.  Still hoping that Thyme Hill can win the Stayers, whilst Edwardstone has looked very impressive chasing this year and has a chance of giving Britain another one against the Irish.  Third Time Lucki looked very impressive first time out at Prestbury this season and his below par Sandown run can be forgiven and he looks each-way value at 20-1.

Sad to read last week of the passing of Ivor Herbert.  Mult-talented having trained a Cheltenham Gold Cup winner and excellent author and journalist, the first book I read was called ‘Point to Point’ as it was the only horsey book in our local library.  It was a great read, as his joint biography of Vincent O’Brien that he produced with the master of Ballydoyle’s wife, Jacqueline.  If you have not read it – it is a must for all those who love the sport.

Ivor Herbert has certainly left us a legacy to remember him by.
