Wednesday 18th January

A busy work morning with some schooling with Ian Popham and Danny Hiskett, including Cosmic King who is declared in the 4.10pm at Ludlow tomorrow.  It will be his hurdling debut after he showed promise in a bumper at Stratford and has had a break since.

Hopefully the ground won’t be too soft for him but he is a fine, athletic five-year-old, who can only improve with time.

It was good to welcome owner Tony Ashall to the gallops with his string of dogs.  They certainly took advantage of the facilities but I’m sure will come on for the run.

Today Pricewise focuses on the Ryan Air Chase.  The two I like are Josses Hill and Taquin du Seuil.  Josses Hill is a 10-1 shot who ran well at Huntingdon before he ran in the King George.  I fancy the likely better ground at the Festival should suit and although some would say he doesn’t like Cheltenham, he ran a cracker there as a novice.

Taquin de Seuil is a 20-1 chance and has excellent course form having beaten Uxizandre at the Festival in the past.  He ran well in Ireland recently and with him high in the handicap, connections may well go for this prize should the race cut up a bit and can certainly see him running into a place.
