Both Lady Of Authority (pictured) and Mrs Barnes ran well to finish fifth in their respective races.

Lady doesn’t help herself by not breaking from the stalls too quickly and therefore was some way off the pace turning for home in a slowly run affair.  She finished very strongly and we will now look for a suitable race over a further distance.

Mrs Barnes has been beset with all sorts of immaturity problems since being purchased following a promising point-to-point debut.  She finished fifth, well clear of the others in a competitive novice hurdle at Wetherby today and will I am sure, improve for the experience.  Hopefully she will soon reward her extremely patient owners, Bob and Pauline Scott.

Ocho Grande is declared at Southwell on Friday in the 5.45pm.  Having run well on his debut for us hopefully he will take to the Southwell surface and run well in a competitive race.  We look forward to him giving the Race Against Prostate Cancer syndicate plenty of entertainment in the coming months.

Delighted that this year’s Cheltenham Gold Cup will be run in the name of the charity Well Child.  This excellent children’s charity is Cheltenham based and has many supporters within the sport, including ITV’s Ed Chamberlin.

With Magners having to understandably step down as sponsors in these extraordinary economic times, the naming of the event in aid of this great cause will I am sure boost it’s exposure within Britain and see racing in an excellent light.  The same way as all profits from the virtual Grand National, went to NHS charities.

Hopefully in future other such races will be jointly sponsored by both companies and charities, thus projecting all that is good about the sport.
