Very frustrating second for Next Lot yesterday, only beaten a neck in the handicap hurdle. He and the winner were someway clear of the third and it was a fine dual for the last half mile. If ever a set of owners deserved to win it is Upthorpe Racing and hopefully it is only around the corner.
Both Cosmic King and Time Wise appreciated the good going yesterday, with Cosmic King not beaten far in the maiden hurdle, whilst Time Wise showed an improved effort in the mares novice hurdle. Hopefully in handicap company both will be competitive.
On my way to Ascot Breeze Up sales before going on to Kempton to saddle Beautiful People.
Thank you to all those that attended last night’s Adlestrop Club Grand National evening. Around 40 members of the club watched some classic Grand Nationals including Red Rum’s third victory and Aldaniti’s success – with both races getting a round of applause in the hall, some 40 years later.
My Grand National quiz was apparently a bit on the tricky side, but congratulations to winner Richard Belcher of Hound Promotions and runner up Jay Taylor.
