Looking forward to having runners towards the end of the week, as long as the rain stays away with both Big Fiddle and Picanha entered along with Highland Sun and Lady Of Authority.
We also have a few pencilled in for next week. It’s good to get them out while the stable appears in good form.
It was great to attend the Horserace Writers and Photographers Association Derby Awards in London yesterday. It is always one of racing’s highlights of the year, where around six hundred guests meet up for a rather long lunch and discuss all things equine.
There were some wonderful winners including Lee Mottershead who won ‘Racing Writer of the Year’ and Marcus Townend who was ‘Reporter of the Year’.
Two very popular winners were also ‘Owner of the Year,’ Andrew Gemmell and Bryony Frost who won the ‘Jump Jockey’ award.
Shared a car with Nigel Twiston-Davies and Nessie Chanter and knew it would be an entertaining day as we stood there with our drink before midday with Charlie Brooks and co. The whole day emphasises the incredible diversity of our sport and well done to Alice Plunkett who’s guest column in the Racing Post today which discusses the power of the horse enriching our lives.
