Off to Southwell later to saddle J Gaye in the 7.15pm. It’s her first time on the fibre sand surface and hopefully she will go on it. She has shown plenty of ability and let’s hope she enjoys the surface and step up in trip.
Tulane is declared at Kempton on Thursday in the 7.40pm. He ran well over course and distance recently and hopefully has a chance of getting in the money this time. Jane Elliott rides but has recently lost her three pound claim which will hopefully be negated by the handicapper dropping him two pounds since his last run.
Wayne Hutchinson announced his retirement from the saddle yesterday. Wayne has ridden a few winners for us and has been a great professional over many seasons. It’s great he is getting out on his own terms and I am sure he will be a success whatever he chooses to do in the future.
I appear to have quite a bit of positive feedback from my guest column in the Racing Post yesterday. Many in the industry appear to be backing the idea of having a National Racehorse Day. There is a follow-up piece in the paper today which you can read HERE
Looking forward to the idea turning into a reality and it showcasing our great sport.
