Roundhead made a pleasing reappearance over hurdles at Southwell yesterday. Eventually settling, he jumped with more fluency than he had in his previous hurdles runs and although outpaced up the straight, he will hopefully improve for this run.
He looks on target to give the ‘Race Against Prostate Cancer’ syndicate some fun and excitement over the coming months and raise money and awareness for Prostate Cancer UK.
Timetobenefit needed her reappearance run but we may well try different tactics next time and possibly some headgear. She does have talent but has had various problems and hopefully we can get her back on track soon.
Off to Lingfield tomorrow, where hopefully the rain will benefit Tulane’s chances as he has performed well on turf with some give in it in the past. Hopefully he will settle having had a break and if so, he should give a good run for his patient owners.
Yesterday was my first time on the racecourse since lockdown and fair play to Southwell for organising the day in such unprecedented circumstances so well.
As owners and trainers cannot socialise on course, it was good to meet up socially distanced in a local pub beforehand and have a drink by the river Trent. Hopefully it won’t be too long before more people are allowed back on British racecourses.
