Enjoying the beautiful weather just before it turns.  We have entries at Uttoxeter on Friday and looking forward to a bit of rain to ease the ground in the coming weeks.

Thank you for all my birthday messages – I had a lovely day thank you and feeling younger rather than older.  I received some wonderful presents including a bag of salad instead of cake from my staff.

Another weekend of excellent racing and delighted to see Marcus Tregoning has yet another decent horse in Alkumait.  Well done to Warwick on putting on such an excellent day for their visitors yesterday.  I know the course put in a lot of effort but sadly it looks as though it will be some time before crowds will be allowed back on track.

Interesting column by Conor McGinn in today’s Racing Post.  As joint chair of the All Party Racing Committee, he has a great interest in the sport and is one of the few Labour MPs who is knowledgeable on the subject.  He correctly points out that racing has an image problem to many in the outside world.  I look forward to him supporting National Racehorse Day and other such initiatives to change that perception.
