Tulane appeared to not get the trip at Windsor last night.  Although he stayed on well at Sandown over a mile and a quarter on his previous outing, Georgia Dobie said he travelled extremely well until two out before staying on at one pace to be beaten six lengths by the winner.

Although he is by a sprinter he is out of a staying family so his trip is hard to gauge, however we will drop him back to a mile and a quarter as he certainly doesn’t lack speed in his work.

Off to Royal Ascot today for what looks a very competitive and exciting day of racing and let’s hope the rain does not spoil it too much.  It is a big day for trainer Charlie Hills with both Battaash and Phoenix Of Spain are big fancies on day one.

Not only did I give Charlie his first ride at Wolverhampton, he was also a keen member of our football team in Lambourn, The Commitments.  On the left wing he had the speed of Battaash and the class of his Irish Guineas winner and let’s hope they do him proud today.
