With restrictions being gradually lifted, it was great to welcome owner Lizzie Prowting to Adlestrop on Friday. We are delighted that Lizzie has three lovely horses with us – the highly promising Picanha, novice chaser Minella Whisper and new purchase Robin Des Smoke.
Picanha is unbeaten having won a point-to-point and a bumper and he is on the way back from a slight stress fracture earlier in the year. He has strengthened considerably and looks a class act in the making. We look forward to him giving Lizzie some great excitement this season.
Minella Whisper is every inch a chaser and having won for us over hurdles will be going over fences this season and I am sure he will do well along with the rest of his family in that sphere.
Robin Des Smoke is a five-year-old winner of a point-to-point in Ireland. She is a tough, easy moving mare with a great attitude and jump and we very much look forward to her getting on the track in the autumn and giving Lizzie some more fun and success.
We had a very enjoyable socially distanced picnic after viewing the horses, along with Lizzie’s racing manager Hannah Bishop and her son Toby. Hannah gave us one of our most enjoyable days racing when winning the Newbury Charity race on Prince du Seuil, whilst Toby has also ridden out for us in the past. Delighted there is so much to look forward to for Team Prowting.
Looking forward to the start of Royal Ascot today and hope the tips on yesterday’s blog run well. Tomorrow I have three fancies and I’m hoping the Queen wins with First Receiver in the Hampton Court Stakes for Sir Michael and Frankie Dettori.
The Italian could also have an outsiders chance on last year’s Oaks favourite Mehdaayih in the Prince Of Wales, whilst I liked the look of Get It on his debut at Newmarket and he has each way claims in the Windsor Castle.
