The sun is out this morning in Adlestrop on a beautifully clement day on the gallops.  Thank you to everyone who entered our Five to Follow competition and good luck to all.

Thankfully the Cotswolds is still in Tier 1 and we can continue to have visitors to the gallops including Brian and Claire Walker on Saturday and Bernie and Terry yesterday.

Last week Cheltenham announced there would be a mares chase at this season’s Festival.  Although some believe it not a good move for the sport, hopefully long-term, this will prove to be a great boost for National Hunt owners and breeders.  We were lucky enough to have a great chasing mare in La Landiere and I am sure it will take some time for it to develop into a competitive race.  However, it should be a great hit with the public and we look forward to winning it in the future.

On the subject of great mares, Enable was retired yesterday.  There has been much debate on how great her career has been but undoubtedly her achievements have been quite extraordinary.  As previously stated, since the first time I saw her in the paddock for the Epsom Oaks, like many, I have followed her career closely.  She is a beautiful stamp with big ears and a big heart.  I am sure weather conditions transpired against her from winning three Arcs but we look forward to her offspring gracing the racecourses in years to come.
