On the way back from Lingfield where we had Golden Deal in the 2pm.  Shane Kelly reported that now she has learned to settle better we should step her up to a mile and a quarter or even a mile and a half, which makes sense now that she is physically stronger.

Went to Kempton this morning with Lady Of Authority and Run Rose Run to give the latter some experience before she goes on holiday.  She is a three-year-old by Native River and she goes nicely.  Hopefully the experience will do her good and now she can have a summer break to strengthen up.

We have a few entries for the weekend and next week on the flat and over jumps.  Hopefully the rains will eventually stop.

Sad to hear that Richard Barber had passed away last week.  He was a lovely man and a great judge and was responsible for Pak Jack before we purchased him.

Nicky Henderson’s Head Lad, Corky Brown has finally retired from Seven Barrows.  Corky and I go back a long way and even shared a greyhound together in my Lambourn days.

Like Richard Barber, a great horseman and I am sure he will be hard to replace.
