Big Fiddle (pictured) is declared in the 1.35pm at Chepstow on Saturday.  Everyone has been very patient with this well-bred mare who has been waiting for some better ground.  She appears in good form and ironically her grandmother, Fiddling The Facts, was favourite for the Grand National some years ago and was runner up in the Welsh equivalent before that.  Hopefully Big Fiddle will like the course and will no doubt need a bit further in time, however it should be a good starting point for her return and Danny Hiskett takes the ride.

The Aintree festival starts today with some fascinating racing on offer including the Rose Paterson Randox Foxhunters Chase, in memory of the course’s outstanding former chairman who so sadly died last year.

The Grand National itself on Saturday, will once again be the best ten minutes of the year and may all competitors come home safe and sound.  There are quite a few short priced fancies but I’ve had small each-ways on Mister Malarky and Shattered Love.  The latter has been running well recently over shorter trips, however she was a Grade One winner over three miles some years ago and this daughter of Yeats could well appreciate the step up in trip.
