We have made some flat entries for next week as at least we can guarantee better ground on the all-weather.

Inevitably pre-Festival, there are many Cheltenham Previews and it was great to attend the Carbine Club’s annual dinner this week.  We are delighted to train the promising Islandray for the Carbine Of London syndicate, who’s twenty members are an enthusiastic and influential team of racing fans including Club Patron, Lord Vestey.

Nick Luck MC’d the dinner and interviewed special guest Venetia Williams.  Whilst the tipping panel of Luck, JA McGrath, George Baker and myself gave our tips for the main races of next week.

I travelled to London on the train along with Fergal O’Brien and it was good to catch up during our journey to Paddington.  Whilst in London, I also met up with two partnerships that own Lesser and Tulane. The former having been bought at the recent Cheltenham sale and the impressive winner of his sole point-to-point, while Tulane has been an ultra-consistent winner of silver medals throughout the winter but we look forward to him winning a gold this summer.

Congratulations to Faisal, a valued member of Team Adlestrop for many years – who finally passed his driving test today after many years of trying!  I’ve told him I will be buying him a chauffeur’s hat for his birthday!
