On the way to Taunton to saddle Sheelbewhatsheelbe (pictured) and Viva Rafa. The sun is out on the M5 so hopefully they will have some nice ground to run on and both horses are stepping up in trip.
Popped into the BHA industry roadshow at Cheltenham Racecourse on the way to Taunton. Listened to owner Nick Rust give a very well constructed opening speech.
Many of racing’s great and good were in attendance.
One of the questions for the audience was “What can we do to get more horses in novice chases?” Unfortunately I was unable to ask my question which was “Why are so many novice chases run on unsuitable courses?”
Most novice chases appear to be on tracks that are either too sharp, too undulating or with uninviting fences. Perhaps now Aintree has been modified they should run them over the National course.
