It was great to welcome the owners of Blue Hour Bay to the gallops this morning. She is a promising four-year-old by Leading Light and a half-sister to the very useful Barney Dwan and others. She is progressing nicely and will hopefully be running in a bumper towards the end of the year.
Heading the syndicate is Chris Newport who has been a great supporter of the yard for many years. Chris purchased her as a foal and hopefully she will give the group lots of fun over the coming seasons.
Returned from Newmarket sales with two new horses. Keep It Brief is a winning three-year-old colt purchased from Richard Hannon’s stable for owner Ed Ware. Unfortunately Ed lost Over Stated recently on the gallops and has purchased Keep It Brief as dual-purpose horse.
We popped him over some poles this morning and he shows a natural aptitude for jumping and we look forward to him winning under both codes.
Yesterday we purchased Ocho Grande for the Race Against Prostate Cancer syndicate. Unfortunately their horse Roundhead suffered a tendon injury and has been retired.
Syndicate member Eve Johnson-Houghton recommended Ocho Grande to us having been placed on the flat and hopefully he will be a dual-purpose horse for the group with half of any prize money won going to Prostate Cancer UK.
