Tulane ran a cracking race once again yesterday at Lingfield coming second for the fourth time in five runs. Luke Morris dictated the pace from the front and kicked on turning for home and looked to have the field beat two furlongs out. However the winner who was stepping up in trip for the first time, came to do us in the final furlong despite our boy rallying at the end.
Ideally he could do with a bit further now he has learned to settle better and we will look for a suitable race for him in September when hopefully he can finally get his head in front.
Hopefully racegoers will soon be allowed back on the racecourse and it’s good to hear they will be back on the track at the St Leger meeting in a couple of weeks time. Let’s hope all the pilots go well. Although Lingfield was well organised and looked after everyone very well, for the sake of the whole sport it will be great to see some paying guests enjoying a day at the races once again.
Today my PA and I celebrate our 19th anniversary of working together. It feels like a long marriage and luckily we have no kids. I know many have thought that the Queen should do something about this length of service – but which one would get the OBE or MBE I’m not sure!
