As we continue to exercise some of the horses, many are enjoying the sunshine and the grass.  The cleaning, disinfecting and painting continues, giving the stables a five star look.

All at Adlestrop were very pleased to hear recently that former Adlestrop Club horse, Catkin Copse has a lovely new home (pictured).  Bred and raced by Sue Welch in her early career, this daughter of Alflora always showed promise and was unlucky not to win on her final two starts, when second to two well-handicapped horses.

She was retired due to a minor injury and went to Heros, where for the last few years she has, thanks to her wonderful temperament, been worth her weight in gold in giving confidence to young students.  However ultimately she deserved a one on one home for life and we are delighted that Lindy Rees has now taken her on.

Lindy is Andrew Balding’s long-standing secretary who previously worked for Henry Candy during my time there.  Therefore we go back a few years and I know that Lindy will give Catkin a beautiful and loving home for the rest of her days.

Racing cannot emphasise enough the great work that goes on in ensuring that the general public know how much effort goes into re-homing ex-racehorses.
