The beauty of the rain is that we were able to school on grass this morning. Decided not to declare Golden Deal at Lingfield as the ground will be sticky there by Saturday and have entered her for Bath next week.
As the yard continues to be steam cleaned and painted for the coming season, we look forward to welcoming a big team to this year’s Ladies Day at Royal Adlestrop this afternoon. It’s always a fun day and let’s hope once again we raise lots of money for charity.
I had a very enjoyable lunch yesterday at Royal Ascot thanks to the Ware family. It was great to catch up with so many people at the Berkshire track and particularly delighted for Mick and Janice Mariscotti on their first Group and Royal Ascot winner. Dashing Willoughby looks a very promising stayer in the making and as Tottenham fans, I am sure the Spurs manager would be very jealous of their wonderful trophy.
With Kemble being a non-runner that probably saved us some dosh yesterday with the ground throwing up some surprises. Today looks no easier but hoping Stradivarius can cope with conditions as flat racing always needs a star.
In the last race, a horse I have followed for a while – Constantinople, carries top weight but I am hoping he is a Group performer int he making. Whilst I also hear a very good word for Sunday Sovereign who should cope with conditions but is quite a short price.
Good luck to all.
