Although a bit chilly, spring is definitely in the air here in Adlestrop with the birds singing and the daffodils beginning to bloom.  Fortunately so are the horses as they come into their summer coats and delighted to make more entries for next week including recent winner Mrs Barnes.

Another fabulous day of racing at the Festival yesterday with so many highlights including the remarkable Tiger Roll and the tough as teak Put The Kettle On.  Luckily heaven did help us in the Coral Cup who in the words of her marvellous trainer “She is my Enable.”

Aiden Coleman’s comments following victory in the Arkle should be kept in the memory bank of the sport and passed on to whoever would like to ask.  As he said the reason we do all this is for “the love of the animal.”

A special mention for the remarkable Sceau Royal who showed more balance than Nureyev and Nijinski in staying on his feet after the third last.  Also very much enjoying the brilliantly analytical mind of Ruby Walsh.  If you’re the son of Ted you will develop a turn of phrase and a sharpness of thought.  You can see in his eyes his enthusiasm for dissecting the decision making of the riders as he says, ”It’s all about tactics.”

May it continue to be a great week for National Hunt racing.
