A good work morning yesterday as we do some fine tuning for a few runners next week, including Mattie Ross at Southwell on Monday. There is rain on the way and let’s hope there’s not too much.
A wonderful Ascot meeting as ever and delighted that Chipotle won the Windsor Castle for the legendary Johnson-Houghton team. Delighted to have backed him despite the draw and had told a couple of owners who visited in the morning. The reception the horse received was far and away the loudest of the week and this ten grand purchase emphasises the skills of his popular trainer and also the ability to compete at the highest level in the sport despite your budget.
Once again it’s difficult to pick winners today, however I liked the look of Project Dante when he won at York and hopefully he has each-way claims in the Norfolk Stakes. Whilst I have always been interested to see how Santiago would get on over an extreme trip. The Irish Derby winner looks to have plenty of stamina, rather like another son of Authorized – Tiger Roll. With rain on the way, there could be some interesting results as ever.
