Thanks to the rain we were able to do a bit of schooling this morning in anticipation of some runners in the next couple of weeks. With Danny Hiskett on holiday, Tom Bellamy came in to school.
We had a good work morning yesterday and we have entered Viva Rafa for Worcester next week. He had a bad cut on his hind leg sustained during his last race at Huntingdon when he was third but hopefully he will be able to make up for lost time over the next couple of months. He has run some cracking races without getting his head in front but hopefully we can put that right very soon.
On Tuesday we were delighted to welcome owner Lizzie Prowting to Adlestrop on her 80th birthday. Lizzie has been a great supporter of the yard and following carrot eating for both Picanha and Minella Whisper – it was great to have a very enjoyable celebratory lunch at The Fox in Oddington.
All at Adlestrop are very much looking forward to seeing the unbeaten point to pointer Picanha turning into a top class National Hunt prospect and Minella Whisper winning over fences this season.
Following a busy work morning I went off to Lords yesterday as a guest of owner Alan Halsall, his son Ben and Anthony Bromley. Ben was my pupil assistant many years ago and unfortunately cannot get rid of the thoroughbred bug and now buys and sells jumpers in Ireland – whilst Ant has bought many a good horse including La Landiere.
With rain stopping play, at least we didn’t see Australia play well and it was great to catch up with all three.
