Some much needed rain has arrived at Adlestrop and the string look in rude health. We had a very pleasing work morning today as we look forward to a few runners over the next couple of weeks.
It was great make my annual visit to Glorious Goodwood on Thursday and catch up with so many owners on the most beautiful course in the world. Delighted to support Goose Leigh in the Magnolia Cup, her first ride upon one of Charlie Hills horses. I gave Charlie his first ride many years ago at Wolverhampton and all had a good day raising funds for an excellent cause.
Thrilled for Kieran Shoemark and William Jarvis winning the Group 1 Nassau Stakes with Lady Bowthorpe.
Keiran spent his early years here at Adlestrop Stables and I was so pleased to see him succeed at the top level. William Jarvis I have known for the majority of my life and he is a fine man and a very popular figure within the sport. It was great to bump into him celebrating in the evening.
Well done also to Alan King on a great week with a Group 1 and a Group 2 winner. I know the latter particularly pleased him being a six furlong race and proving what an excellent trainer he is.
Yesterday morning we played in our inaugural ‘Mick Barnes Memorial Crazy Golf Championship’ at Littlehampton. It has been tradition for most of my life to play the course and something Barnsy and I did for many years.
Well done to Charlie Allan on winning Barnsy’s mug with an excellent front running performance.
