Racing Welfare meet up

A wet and windy schooling morning with Danny Hiskett in to do the honours.  Sad to report that Ian Popham has broken his shoulder schooling elsewhere last week.  Look forward to him returning to the saddle as soon as possible.

Hopefully all prepped for some runners over the weekend but this will depend on the ground conditions and with so much rain about, it won’t be nice anywhere.

Last night I attended a Racing Welfare meeting at Cheltenham racecourse.  They do an excellent job under the leadership of Dawn Goodfellow and it was good to meet up and discuss the charity’s progress and any ideas that may improve the charity.  It is a shame more from the racing world were not in attendance but we all lead busy lives.  www.racingwelfare.co.uk

Pricewise has been doing an ante-post special on the Supreme Novice hurdle and the Ballymore Novice hurdle over the last couple of days.  Two novices that have impressed me this season are Kalashnikov and Mr Whipped and wherever they run they look each way potential.

Very sad news to hear of the death of trainer Richard Woollacott.  An excellent trainer and a really nice guy.  Our thoughts are with all his friends and family.
