Pleasing debut from Big Fiddle
Big Fiddle made a pleasing debut in the bumper last night at Ludlow. Sam Twiston-Davies was pleased with her and said she relaxed and travelled nicely before showing signs of greenness in what was a rough race.
She stayed on nicely up the straight to be beaten less than ten lengths by the highly rated and rather expensive winner.
Hopefully we will get another run into her in a few weeks time, before giving her a break and bringing her back for a hurdling campaign. From a very good staying family, I am sure a stamina test will bring the best out in her.
As for Stoney Cross, having behaved perfectly at home and on the track, including going to the start. She had a bucking episode when the tapes went up and dislodged Tom Bellamy. She has never shown any signs of that temperament before and we have entered her at Wincanton on Tuesday, hoping for a better outcome.
With Southwell holding an extra meeting on Sunday, we will hopefully now take Viva Rafa there instead of Kempton tomorrow.
