Off to Southwell today with Madame Ritz
Off to Southwell today to saddle Madame Ritz in the 1.50pm. she showed promise on her debut and hopefully run well in what looks a tricky race. The Southwell surface is quite different to others and hopefully she will like it.
Yesterday we had a schooling morning with Ian Popham and Danny Hiskett. All went to plan, other than poor Over Stated – our promising six-year-old, gained a pelvic injury which means he is out for the season. Luckily he received veterinary attention very quickly and let us hope he recovers for next season and he can fulfil his potential.
It was good to have a visit yesterday from Colin and Gwenda Pocock, who came to see their four-year-old Stowaway gelding go through his paces on the gallops. He was purchased at Doncaster last May very reasonably and is a half brother to two winners. He has done some growing since he was purchased but looks a decent prospect for next season.
Pricewise went through the Ryanair yesterday. I think Top Notch will win it, however possibly Cloudy Dream at 14s could be each way value.
Whilst in the Betfair Hurdle he picks Lough Derg Spirit for the Henderson camp. Seven Barrows has a strong hand and if the ground were to dry up, I am a big fan of Verdana Blue.
