More horses to follow
A mild morning of cantering in preparation for tomorrow’s work morning, when we look forward to welcoming The Adlestrop Club and the Beautiful People partnership to the gallops.
Today’s horses for the Five to Follow competition are:
Master Vintage (pictured)
Vinnie won at Leicester in January, having his first run for nearly two years following treatment for a kissing spine. He had shown ability over hurdles on previous run when third in a Sandown handicap and had he jumped the last, he may have won. Following his victory, he was placed at Leicester but then made a gurgle at Market Rasen and he has since had a soft palate operation. A hard pulling type who wants two miles plus, he will start off over hurdles this season before going chasing and looks just the type to give some great National Hunt fun and excitement to the Adlestrop Club.
Elsa is certainly a bit of a character, rather like her grandmother who I trained many years ago, along with her mother. A home bred of Hunscote Stud, she is by Schiaparelli and very much looks like her father. A fine big mare standing 17hh, she showed promise in the spring and is at present working nicely and should be running in a bumper in November. She certainly has the size and scope to go chasing one day.
Whisper came to us last spring having won a point to point in Ireland. He is a full brother to Nicky Henderson’s useful chaser, Premier Bond. He is a big, chasing type who travelled well in his only run for us at Uttoxeter before a wind problem kicked in up the straight. He has since been operated on and hopefully this will bring about the necessary improvement for him to fulfil his potential. He will start back over hurdles but hopefully it won’t be long before he is jumping fences and giving his owner, Lizzie Prowting some great days out on the course.
