Monday 9th December

Picanha put an excellent performance at Exeter on Friday to win in good style under a fine ride for Danny Hiskett.  Settled in behind mid division tracking the favourite, he showed both talent and resolution to win going away from some useful prospects.

All at Adlestrop are delighted for Lizzie Prowting and Hannah Bishop who have done so much to support the yard.  Picanha looks a nice prospect and we will decide over the next few weeks whether to follow up in a bumper or begin his hurdling career.  Picanha jumps very well at home and certainly has the size and scope to make a chaser.  Exciting times for all concerned.

Highland Sun failed to fire at Wolverhampton on Saturday evening and has us all scratching our head at home as she has always shown ability.  Disappointing for all concerned as everyone has been very patient with her.

We will look to see if a problem arises over the coming days on why she should not have performed in the manner we expected.

Present From Dubai is declared in the 12.40pm at Uttoxeter tomorrow – a two mile handicap hurdle.  The ground is on the heavy side but he has run on similar conditions in his younger days.  He has always shown promise and hopefully if he settles well tomorrow, he should put up a good show in what looks a competitive event and we look forward to him rewarding his patient owners over the coming months.

Thank you to all who supported the Adlestrop Club’s music evening on Friday night.  A great time was had by all thanks to Pete Langford’s fantastic musical chat about his remarkable career and Sybil Ruscoe’s brilliant music quiz.

Pete is the lead singer of the Barron Knights and had many fascinating anecdotes to share, along with some entertaining musical interludes.  He is a great supporter of the yard and there is no finer man to have performed in the music industry.

Sybil is not only an owner in the Beautiful People syndicate but a former presenter of Top of the Pops and Radio 1.  Her quiz questions were all based on the stables and the surrounding area and added to a memorable evening.
