Dandy Lass is declared at Wolverhampton tomorrow in the 2.55pm. We are dropping her back in trip with cheek pieces on as well as a tongue tie and hopefully will have her up with the pace, although being drawn 12 is hardly ideal. Georgia Dobie has been booked to ride and claims five pounds. Hopefully Dandy Lass will appreciate the headgear and the female touch.
We have made entries for the weekend with both Lesser and Rossbeigh Strand having options later in the week.
Delighted to have purchased Flying Dragon (pictured) from the Goffs sale at Doncaster on Thursday. He came highly recommended, has shown decent form on the flat and has the size and scope to go jumping. He is a good moving, athletic type who we intend to syndicate and anyone interested, please do be in touch.
Some excellent racing at the weekend as ever, with great spectacles at Sandown, Aintree and Punchestown.
Nicky Henderson has come in for a fair bit of stick on his decision not to run Altior. Although I fully understand this was disappointing to many, the horse belongs to Mrs Pugh and is trained by N Henderson and they must be left to make the right decision in their opinion.
Everyone can have their view, however although Sandown is a wonderful course, as a local boy I know that after rain the ground can often be very testing. With Altior having had several wind operations it was probably a sensible move to give it a miss at this stage of the season.
As a lover of sport Peter Alliss has played a very large part in my life and many others over the last half century. His commentary and opinions were not everyone’s cup of tea but to many of us he was a knowledgeable, humorous, artistic and straight talking individual. Golf will never be the same and I look forward to having ‘a round’ with Allis when covid restrictions allow.
