A fascinating weekend of racing with a memorable Epsom Derby.  Often I back the Ballydoyle outsider in the Derby at a big price, as so often they get in the money and can’t believe I did not do so this year.  Although luckily for others, I told them to have a bit each way on the winner.

A great ride from Emmet McNamara whose father Eric is one of the true legends of Irish racing.  A beautifully bred colt, who is a typical Galileo in that he just runs and keeps going.  What a remarkable stallion he is and if they were human they would have a great work ethic but possibly would not be included in your quiz team.

One of his daughter’s Love, was the most impressive winner of the Oaks and looks right up there when it comes to talented Coolmore fillies.

Enable also ran a most pleasing race in the Eclipse, although could not quite get to the winner who is some galloper.  She definitely needs a mile and a half these days and I am sure another King George is within her grasp.

Aiden O’Brien is also some stallion, with his son Donnacha training the French Oaks winner within a few months of gaining his licence.  He has also ridden a fair few Classic winners as well and he is still only 21.
