Golden Deal ran very pleasingly at Lingfield on Saturday evening.  She settled better this time and Tom Queally was pleased with her effort.  Hopefully she will now go to Lingfield on the 11th where we will step her up to a mile and hopefully this will bring about some more improvement.

Her very patient owner Turrloo Parrett certainly deserves some success with her and hopefully it will not be too far away.

Had an excellent day at Epsom on Saturday, walking the course with owner Steven Smith before being treated to an excellent lunch in the Chez Roux.  Fortunately backed the Derby winner on paddock pick which paid for the afternoon.

Great to witness Her Majesty The Queen unveiling a wonderful bronze of Lester Piggott by Willie Newton.

Willie and I worked together many years ago when he was a jockey and he is a great guy and certainly a brilliant artist.

On Saturday I wore a tie given to me by Hugh McIlvanney’s widow, Caroline.  A possession I am very proud of as it was Hugh’s favourite and he was a marvellous character.

He would have approved as it was at this course that my adoration of racing’s greatest jockey first began.
