Both Islandray and J Gaye ran fine races to finish second on Saturday. Islandray was up against a decent novice of Philip Hobbs but he ran a good second in the circumstances and would ideally want a bit more cut in the ground. He will now have a handicap mark which will increase our options but he looks a nice stayer in the making for the Carbine of London syndicate.
J Gaye would have won in another half a stride and was beaten a nose at Kempton. She travelled well in behind the leaders but took a bit of time to pick up in the final two furlongs before closing with every stride to be narrowly beaten. She has been ultra-consistent for us but we may put a pair of cheek pieces on her to help her concentrate and she certainly deserves to get her head in front for all concerned.
