Very frustrating to see golden Deal pipped on the line on Saturday at Lingfield. Given a fine ride by Luke Morris, she settled in behind the leaders and then challenged in the straight and the race look won until the final stride.
However, we were all delighted with her improved performance, with the increase in trip and treatment for ulcers having made a difference. She has always shown ability but has been on the weak side for much of her career and always pulled a bit too hard.
Hopefully this will be a turning point for her and she can reward her very patient owner Turrloo Parrett, with a victory soon.
Roundhead runs tonight at Windsor in the 7.30pm with Jamie Spencer onboard. He has been off the track for a while thanks to a wind op and a cracked rib, however he appears in good form now and hopefully he can show us some promise before going back over hurdles.
Owner Ed Ware has been incredibly patient and now that he has grown into his frame, we look forward to him making up for some lost time.
Hopefully Organdi looks on target to run at Uttoxeter on Wednesday in the two and a half mile handicap hurdle. She was impressive last time out and has since gone up six pounds in the weights. However she should like the ground conditions and now she is learning to settle better, will eventually get further and will hopefully continue the success of the Beautiful People syndicate.
There will be no blog for a few days this week while my secretary is holiday but will be back on Friday!
