Beautiful People (pictured) is declared at Warwick tomorrow in the mares only novice handicap chase.  Hopefully the ground and trip will be more suitable than it was on her chasing debut at the track.  She still carries plenty of weight but hopefully this will give her some more experience and she appears in good form.  The firmer the better for her, so looking forward to a summer campaign with her.

A brilliant start to the turf flat season and what a weekend for the Gosden family.  Haqeeqy and his young jockey look two to follow whilst Lord North and Mishriff were outstanding winners at the Dubai World Cup.

For those of you who have not attended Meydan, it is quite an experience.  I was lucky enough to be in the country for Dubai Millennium’s brilliant victory.  Critics have previously said that racing in such conditions was Disneyland rather than Ascot.  However, although we love six inches of mud at Plumpton and Uttoxeter, it only dawned on my that evening in the year 2000 that what I was witnessing was something very natural for the thoroughbred.  Being descendants of Arabs, they were bred to run around in the desert at nine o’clock at night.  Food for thought.
