Rossbeigh Strand ran an excellent race at Chepstow on Friday.  He settled nicely in front and jumped fluently until being challenged at the second last by the well-handicapped winner.  Making his only mistake at the last hurdle, he got done in the final strides for second place – however it was a pleasing performance.

We will see how he comes out of the race before deciding on his next venture but he looks like continuing to give his owners, the Nut Club syndicate some more fun and excitement this season.

There has been much controversy this weekend regarding the withdrawal of horses from racing at Ascot on Saturday.  Although obviously disappointing not to see these horses on the track, anyone who has ever felt a horse’s tendon will know that one mistake can be very costly when running certain horses on ground without give in it.

The weather conditions this summer have been extreme and clerks of the courses throughout the country are being faced with problems that have not been seen before.  Instead of blaming trainers, maybe we should be blaming the weather.

If you have not already done so, please do listen to Barry Hearn’s fascinating ‘Desert Island Discs’.  Having met Barry on several occasions, he is a remarkable man who’s attitude is both fascinating and thought provoking.

We are looking forward to our our Adlestrop Club December event which is the return of the ‘General Knowledge Quiz’ on Friday 2nd December in Adlestrop Village Hall.  Details below.  Please be in touch if you’d like to come along.
