Great to have our first entry for a while with Gentleman Moore entered at Uttoxeter on Saturday in the two and a half mile handicap chase. He has been sent to us as Danny Hiskett gets on very well with him and has won three times on him. Having run well at Stratford recently, let’s hope he keeps his good record onboard him.
A fruitful work morning on Saturday and the horses appear to have come out of it well. The tropical weather continues but the horses don’t seem to mind the warm and the wet.
Yesterday I went to visit owner Lizzie Prowting to celebrate her birthday which was last Thursday. We watched the racing socially distanced and as ever, had a great laugh and very much looking forward to Lizzie’s three horses providing a lot of fun and success this coming season.
Today the horses had a morning of steady cantering followed by carrot stretches. All the horses at Adlestrop regularly have stretching sessions involving eating carrots in various positions. Many visitors have seen Phillips stretching his string. The great equine physio Mary Bromiley first introduced me to such exercises and I think it does the horses the world of good. If only I was that supple.
Looking forward to a great week of racing at York. Wednesday’s Juddmonte International looks fascinating with favourite Ghaiyyath being taken on by the brilliant mare Magical, the fast improving Lord North and Guineas winner Kameko. A captivating flat season continues and I am sure Magical will be relieved to be racing at York without the sight of Enable’s backside.
