Monday 16th January

A well-deserved victory for Celestial Magic at Warwick on Saturday.  Given a fine ride by Danny Hiskett, he sat in behind the pacemaker before overhauling him to win decisively .

Home-bred by owner June Watts, he ran consistently well last season and very much deserved to get his head in front.   We will see what the handicapper does but I’m sure he will get a bit further in time and he is a real tough, genuine type who will hopefully win many more races.

West Berkshire Racing Club came to visit on Saturday morning.  They are one of the most supported racing clubs in the country and it was good to welcome them to the Adlestrop gallops for the first time.  Hopefully they were guided to a few future winners and we look forward to attending their excellent racing quiz which takes place at Oaksey House on Tuesday 24th January.

Last night I was kindly invited, along with John Francome, to the Reading Sports Awards at the Reading Hilton.  Organised by Alan Porton, who has been a great friend to us for many years – it was an excellent evening rewarding young and old for their sporting achievements.  As Francome and I discussed, it would be great if all areas of the country did a similar thing, as there was a great community spirit throughout the evening.
