Hobby horses on the gallops!

With it being half-term, it was great to welcome some youngsters to the gallops this morning, including Melissa Chesterman’s daughters Emilia and Daisy as well as Amber Clements with her daughter Lily.

All came equipped with hobby horses for the gallops but luckily were unable to beat any of ours over five furlongs, despite a damn good attempt.

A great deal of routine cantering this morning after which all the horses got weighed.  The string are stripping fitter and looking forward to having lots of runners in November.

At lunchtime I had great fun having my quarterly lunch with owner Lizzie Prowting at the French Horn in Sonning.  It is a wonderful restaurant and a favourite of the Prime Ministers, we always get looked after wonderfully well.  It’s great to see Lizzie in such good form and so looking forward to the jumps season ahead.

We look forward to her six-year-old, Minella Whisper finding a victory or two over the winter following a wind operation this summer.

Thank you to all who have entered this year’s Five to Follow Competition, if you have not already done so, please send your entries in by Wednesday.  The more entries, the bigger the prize.  You can enter HERE
