Great to end the season with a winner!

It was great to end the season with another fantastic win for Bertie Barnes.  Although not the most competitive event, he slopped through the rain-sodden ground to win comfortably.

It will be interesting to see what the handicapper does with him and hopefully he can run again before his summer holiday.  He should get three miles on better ground and will certainly jump a fence.

Totterdown did not deserve to fall at the last when in second place in the novice hurdle.  He once again pulled too hard for his own good but had all bar the favourite cooked turning for home.  Unfortunately Danny injured his collarbone in the fall but hopefully will be back riding soon.

All good wishes to Ian Popham in his new career of a jockeys agent following the announcement of his retirement from the saddle.

‘Pops’ has been a great addition to the Adlestrop team over the last few seasons.  An excellent rider with bags of common sense, dedication and decency – I am sure he will make a great success of his new occupation.
