Both Brave Helios and Beautiful People ran with great credit at Stratford yesterday. Luckily the rains stayed away and the ground was perfect for both of them. We knew they both needed further but with few opportunities around at the moment, they both stayed on very well up the straight.
Brave Helios jumped with great fluency throughout and once we get him over a longer trip, we should see him at his best.
Beautiful People would have gained great confidence from finishing the race so well following her recent soft palate operation. Three miles plus will suit her and again we will look for a suitable opportunity in the coming weeks.
Looking forward to running our two-year-olds Golden Deal and Tulane next week at Windsor and Leicester respectively.
Golden Deal will be making her debut and will appreciate further in time, whilst Tulane will appreciate the step up to seven furlongs and ideally will need a bit further but I am sure will have gained some experience from his Chepstow debut.
More exciting racing from Goodwood today and tomorrow with the going a major factor if you are looking to back winners. Always liked the look of Make Time who runs today in the mile Group 3. This son of Makfi should appreciate the conditions.
Sad to learn of the passing of the great actor Robert Hardy. No one will forget the day he came to Adlestrop to judge our village dog show and recite the Adlestrop poem in it’s centenary year. He was delightful company as judge, dressed in exquisite tweed just like his character Siegfried Farnon.
A man of high intellect, standards and wit – he was a rare breed.
