A good schooling morning as the ground gradually dries up and also an opportunity to work a few horses that will be running next week.
We’ve made an entry for Present From Dubai at Leicester on Thursday. He went up eight pounds for his win at Uttoxeter but appears in good form and there are a few options for him this month.
Our physiotherapist Maggie Turner was in today and checked over many of our potential runners and delighted to report she was pleased with the way the string are looking.
There has been recent talk of making the Cheltenham Festival a five day affair. I agree with our owner Lord Vestey, that a fifth day would be a mistake. I realise the success of the Festival subsidises many of the other Jockey Club tracks, however to create more races for such a day would water down the Festival’s prestige.
It could be argued there is too much racing overall and a reduction in overall fixtures would be a better way forward for the sport than an increase. Always keep the audience wanting more.
Can you recognise this former jockey who would do anything to make a few quid pre-Christmas?
