Iron Horse ran very well to be second at Ffos Las yesterday. He was a bit fresh on his first run back for a while but was a good second to the easy winner, despite not appreciating the very heavy ground. Hopefully he will come on for this race and we now have the option of going chasing with him.
It was wonderful that Eustace and Carol Theodore to join fellow breeder Amanda Langdale and I on the journey to West Wales and back. It’s a shame the other member of the partnership, Karen Anderson, was busy working back in the States but they have had enormous amount of fun out of breeding and racing Iron Horse and his full brother Master Vintage.
A beautiful morning on the gallops with no rain and blue sky – a rarity this last few weeks.
With Doncaster off, we have no runners until next week and a few to run as soon as the ground improves.
A great winter festival at Newbury over the next couple of days with the likes of Paisley Park and Champ racing today, culminating in tomorrow’s Ladbrokes Trophy Chase where Okay Corral looks a worthy favourite.
It is often asked these days who would be your four ideal dinner party guests. Sadly two have passed away this week in Clive James and Sir Jonathan Miller. Both amused and fascinated me in my early years and they continue to so for decades after. Their talents were rare.
