Friday 27th January

Beautiful People ran very well in the three mile novice handicap hurdle at Taunton this afternoon.  Although finding more trouble than Donald Trump on the way round, she stayed on up the straight to finish third, beaten ten lengths behind the winning favourite.  She would have finished a bit closer but for the interference.  I’m sure over a trip on good ground, she will provide a lot of fun for her syndicate who purchased her on an Adlestrop Club trip to France.

Berkeley Barron however had his handbrake on all the way in the opening race at Doncaster.  It is probably time to find him another job as he is a big, handsome type.  He has had his problems in the past and has lost his competitive edge.  Although it was a long trip to Doncaster for his trainer and owner, Liz Prowting – Berkeley Barron seemed to enjoy the experience more than his connections.

We have declared Muthabir and Timetobenefit at Doncaster tomorrow.  With Huntingdon being off, Muthabir is being re-routed to the opening 2 ½ mile hurdle.  With 17 runners, it’s a competitive event but hopefully he runs yet another decent race for the Adlestrop Experience.

Timetobenefit was purchased in the summer having won a point to point in Ireland.  She is a tough, talented type and although not the biggest she should show some promise in the mares bumper.  Danny Hiskett rides both and some overnight showers would help both horses.
