Hoping to have some runners next week now that there is some rain about.  Like many yards, we are late for some of the string to make their seasonal debuts due to ground conditions but hopefully it will be worth the wait.

Rather unnecessary criticism of N Henderson in yesterday’s Racing Post concerning his handling of Shishkin.  Sadly there still seems to be a divide between some racing fans and those that train the horses.   Anyone in the fortunate position of devoting their lives to the training of racehorses will know that there are many facets to the job.

Perhaps the more we explain this and open our doors to it the better.  However I know that the master of Seven Barrows is very open to this and I am sure those involved with the editorial in yesterday’s paper would enjoy a visit to Seven Barrows.  Perhaps after which they would be more understanding of why some horses do not reach their race targets as planned.  After all, surely we would all agree the welfare of the horse comes first.

Delighted to be invited to the Sir Peter O’Sullevan Lunch yesterday at the Dorchester.  Great to see so many Adlestrop owners in attendance at what is always one of the most celebrated racing events of the year.

This year’s recipient of the award was Jessica Harrington.  A worthy winner as she is a great horse woman who has conquered many equine disciplines.  I very much enjoyed being the show judge at Doncaster sales with her many years ago, where the reserve champion happened to have been the dam of her Cheltenham Gold Cup winner Sizing John.

A great judge rather like Sir Peter himself.
