The ground was too soft for Muthabir at both Newbury and Stratford so we will wait for other options coming up in the next seven to ten days. Made entries for next week with a dry forecast in prospect. The ground at Warwick was pretty dire and Western Storm certainly proved those conditions are not his cup of tea. Whilst Sheelbewhatsheelbe stuck on to be third, narrowly beaten for second with the short-priced favourite sluicing up. However I’m sure on better ground she will improve.
Many thanks to all who supported last night’s Adlestrop Club Question of Sport. As ever a great turn out of sporting celebs turned up to support the evening in aid of Aspire and the British Heart Foundation. John Inverdale’s team consisting of Mick Fitzgerald, Sybil Ruscoe and Andy Lloyd narrowly defeated Mark Pougatch’s team of Cornelius Lysaght, Mark Bradburne and Tom Knight. A rare reversal in form.
Once again the Upthorpe Racing team headed by Jeremy Brown, came home the winners of the other teams, finishing only a point behind team Inverdale. Many thanks to Charlie Allan and Eric Painting for doing a brilliant job for the questions. As for ITV’s Ed Chamberlin, he did a brilliant job as quiz master and contributed greatly to making the evening such a great success.
My old school’s team, made up of my old teachers and class mates, were not far off the leaders. It was great to be able to combine their visit with a game of golf with my old sports teacher winning the inauguaral St Andrews Golf Tour Challenge Cup.
