Had a very pleasing schooling morning today, with many of the string jumping well over both hurdles and fences.  We have both Muthabir and Iron Horse entered over hurdles next week whilst hopefully Beautiful People will make her chasing debut shortly.

Golden Deal runs at Wolverhampton tomorrow in the 7.10pm – a one mile two furlong classified stakes.  Joe Fanning rides and having run well in her last two races, hopefully once again she will be in the money.

Yesterday I was delighted to be a guest of SIS at the 23rd staging of the Peter O’Sullevan Charity Lunch.  It was great to see so many owners in the room and once again we were entertained by Rory Bremner and John Francome who were both at their very best.

Once again a significant amount of money was raised for some brilliant causes.  It’s a great tribute to the greatest sporting commentator of our time that there was so much good will in the room.

The Peter O’Sullevan Award went to Brough Scott who quite rightly achieved a standing ovation for his remarkable contribution to the sport.  I have known Brough all of my racing career and he has always been an inspirational and energetic figure to all that share his love of racing.

I was particularly pleased to be wearing a former recipient of the Award’s tie for lunch.  Hugh McIlvanney’s widow Caroline, very kindly gave me one of Hugh’s ties following his sad passing and Hugh was in many of our thoughts during yesterday’s proceedings.
