Shadow Walker is declared in the 2.17pm at Chepstow tomorrow running in his first handicap hurdle with Danny Hiskett onboard. He appears in good form at home and hopefully is learning to settle in his races and we look forward to him rewarding his owner Colin Pocock’s immense patience.
Very sadly on Wednesday morning our very promising Pether’s Moon five-year-old, known in the yard as ‘Perfect Pete’ – had a heart attack on the gallops doing a routine canter. He was being ridden by Danny Hiskett who fortunately was fine and Pete did not suffer.
It is always very sad when such things happen which thankfully are very rare. However Pete was such a talented and lovable character and as Danny said, was the nicest young horse he had ever ridden having excelled in his work and his jumping prowess. The photo above is of him looking fantastic last Friday.
So sad for all concerned, especially the staff and the Richard Phillips Racing Syndicate who had such high hopes for him. We look forward to better times ahead in what can be a very challenging sport.
