Muthabir has been declared for the 4.45pm at Stratford on Sunday.  We are stepping him up in trip and Danny Hiskett will ride and take off three pounds.  Having won in January, the handicapper as ever has been slow to drop him, however he is in good form at home and he will wear cheek pieces to help him travel better.

He can sometimes throw in an end of season run having been on the go for quite a while now and if so, Danny will look after him and hopefully the handicapper will do the same.

Yesterday I attended a memorial service in London for Hugh McIlvanney.  The occasion was a wonderful testament to sport’s greatest writer.  Many greats of sport and journalism were in attendance and the fact that amongst the readers were Brough Scott, Gary Lineker and Sir Tom Courtenay says it all.

His passion for the power of sport was immense and his three favourite sports – football, boxing and racing, turned up aplenty to pay their respects.

It was a privilege to know and interact with him.  There will not be another quite like him.
