Beautiful People is declared at Southwell on Sunday in the 3 mile handicap hurdle. She showed improvement following a wind operation on her last run at Stratford and once again will wear a tongue strap.
Hopefully the step up in trip will suit her and once again Danny Hiskett rides, taking off five pounds. It is a competitive race but there are very few similar races at present.
Looking forward to York next week and this evening I must select my stallion for Geoffrey Howson’s leading sire competition. Acclamation made me a close third in the Goodwood competition and it’s always fun trying to work out the type of stallion that suits the Knavesmire.
Notice today Simon Crisford has a two-year-old running at Wolverhampton in the 4pm called Eyecatcher. This 150,000 guinea son of Camelot who is entered in the Derby, should not be confused with John Bosley’s great chaser of the seventies who was placed in Grand Nationals. With Aiden O’Brien training Spanish Steps to victory last week – is it not a shame these names are not kept from being repeated. Or then again, does it make us reminisce more.
